Cigarettes are a nasty habit that’s extremely difficult to kick. Thankfully, there’s a safer and healthier alternative to smoke away your stress. Vaping is a new trend that uses an electronic device to generate flavoured water vapour through a vaporizer. Water vapour doesn’t always have to be flavoured, but cigarette smokers use the taste and smell to distract them from real cigarettes while still getting their fix.

An eliquid, which is composed of either vegetable glycerine or propylene glycol, is the substance that is put into the vaporizer. Flavours can be natural or artificial and the liquids inserted bring a variety of flavour palettes. Some may come with small doses of nicotine so that the body doesn’t feel in distress after quitting cold turkey. There is a range of nicotine strengths available for those who wish to cut back a little bit or completely. This range is from zero milligrams of nicotine to 24 milligrams of nicotine per e-liquid.

How the Device Works

The idea and device were created by a Chinese pharmaceutical employee by the name of Hon Lik. His father had passed away from lung cancer caused by smoking and he was inspired to change the lives of others so they wouldn’t have to endure the same fate. There are three pieces to a vaporizer.

  • Atomizer
  • Battery

These three pieces click together like a chain and act as a ripple effect once the battery is turned on. The battery gives power to the atomizer and then the atomizer takes the e-liquid and turns the water into vapour. When this happens, it is sent off through the inhaler and into the user’s mouth. Sometimes, you may see this three-piece pen inserted into a cartridge that allows the battery to be recharged.

Vaping vs. Smoking

Potential vape users may wonder how vaping differs if the user is still getting small doses of nicotine. The first reason is that those who choose smaller amounts of nicotine can wean themselves off of it, going to a lower dose and eventually needing zero milligrams of nicotine. Other benefits include a better personal smell and reduced cigarette smoke odour. It’s unfortunate that you can tell if someone is a smoker when they enter the room simply because of how they smell.
